I'm on day 18, and I can't get my humidity up high enough. I have a Hovabator 1602n, and have filled up all the areas in the bottom, and added a sponge. Any ideas???

wait for a bit for the water to evaporate, it may shoot up. if not, mist inside the bator. maybe add another sponge too if you need it. it make take awhile for it to go up.

are the holes plugged with those red plug thingies? What is your humidity running at right now? Sometimes I have added loosely draped pile of paper towel that is soaked in warm water. Worse comes to worse, you can put a humidifier in the room with the bator and humidify the whole room a bit, make it easier for the bator to keep humidity up. Hope you get it fixed. If you are just stumped and can't get it up, try misting the eggs lightly with warm water a couple times a day. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the tips. My humidity is running around 61%. My plugs have always been out because I'm in a really high altitude, about 6500 feet or so and when I got it it said in the instructions to take them out above a certain altitude. What is the "ideal" humidity at this point? I have read so many different things. Thanks in advance!!!

I would say leave it be. With all of that water in the bottom, my guess would be your hygrometer is not reading accurately. Misting the eggs is not a good idea and can cause more harm than good. Hold tight or get a new instrument. Good luck with your hatch.

I'd put a sponge in or a wet wash cloth. Also, at that altitude I'd be willing to bet that you own a room humidifier. Fill it and plug it in. I live at 6800 feet and I have two running in my incubator room because it's rather large.
