can't keep up with the demand

My problem is lots of eggs and no customers. I've even gone as far as giving most of the people in my neighborhood a free sample dozen to see if I could get them hooked on them and to start buying them and so far none of them have showed up to buy any. Im the only one in my neighborhood that sells eggs. I have brown eggs and I have them priced at $2 a dozen it's around $2.89 for a dozen brown eggs at the local stores.

I think someone has to sharpen their pencil and chicken math skills, myself included. After giving away half of my hens customers came out of the woodwork. I guess that is the factor of "x" in the chicken math table.

What to know what's pretty bad?? I have given eggs away to my neighbors since I am constantly over loaded with eggs. I had told them when they needed more to PLEASE let me know - for FREE! I have stressed this statement every time. You know not one of them have ever said they needed more. Even when they see me not one mention of "Hey by the way do you have any extra eggs?". Nothing.

I used to wonder is there something wrong with my eggs?? But we eat the eggs from the same chickens and no problem, so I don't know.

And I heard I have to be certified or something to sell eggs in my state. I never checked into it so I'm not sure.

I just had to vent a little, thanks for reading

Maybe it is just your location? To me it seems that when you give stuff away for free, people often times even expect you to deliver. We had that problem with composted horse manure. They wanted us to load it on our truck and deliver it for free. I said no. I agree with the other posters, try Craigslist and Word of Mouth, talk about it at work, church, etc. I always talk about my eggs and have many more customers than eggs. I have a waiting line unfortunately  Give it a try and let us know how it works for you. Good luck!

I had a guy that was buying eggs and went on and on about how he just loved them. The last time he bought eggs he didn't have the exact amount and I didn't have change so he said to just keep it for next time. He has never called back??? I don't know if he lost my number or if something was wrong with them. Maybe he found them for cheaper. Even if he did I don't intend on lowering my price. Also I don't separate my eggs into S, M and L. I just put them in a carton and call it good. I do try to make them all even though. Never had any complaints. I figure if people want eggs that are all the same size in the carton then they should go to the grocery store. I got better things to do like watch my chickens!!!

The best way to encourage broody hens is to have customers waiting. All school year (I am a teacher) I have sold a dozen here..a dozen there.. well word has gotten around and I have 4 different people wanting 1-3 dozen each.. what happens..THREE hens of my nine laying goes broody.. THEN we have a cold snap..darn it all!!!
