Can't Machine Quilt...Why Does Machine Skip?

Did you flip the borders? It looks like the top border is a little wider than the sides??

Nope, not exactly. Check the bottom third of the original piece, then look at the corrected one. If you didn't see that right away, then I can forgive myself for not seeing it, LOL!

I noticed it, but only because I did the same thing on a project I made a couple of years ago. TWICE ! I unsewed it, then sewed it back on upside down again and had to unsew it again.
I think it is because we are so intent on the fussy cut squares and knowing what side is up that it happens.

Ha, that was my fear, that I'd do it again and just decide I had to leave it that way. And you have to be so careful un-sewing it not to rip or stretch the fabric that it's tedious as heck.

I see it now! I think it is a trick of the eyes that we didn't see it right off! Once you point it out, it's so obvious! I would have done the same thing. I'm always making mistakes like that! I did a quilt in a day log cabin a few years back. Had them all sewed together and about in the middle of the quilt, I had one of the blocks turned wrong! I didn't take it out! I never had it quilted but I told everyone I intended to do it that way to see how many caught the mistake!! LOL!

While in college, I made a carrying bag for my boyfriend for his martial arts staff. It was black and gray denim with a bear paw block. I alternated it left and right up the bag - and put two in the same direction at the top. I didn't notice until I had it all together, lined and the straps put on it. 25 years later and DH is still using it with the goof. It must be true love...

Oh, yeah, quilts don't have to be perfect to be beautiful and functional. I made this wallhanging many years ago for my husband when he was studying Kenpo. Had no pattern for the letters or anything else for that matter, didn't really know how to do them, but its all hand quilted and it still hangs on a wall.

Aww! It surely is! It must be well made, to last that long! The marriage and the bag!!
