Can't Machine Quilt...Why Does Machine Skip?

I think this little quilt will be done with diagonal crosshatching by machine. It's a bit smaller than the other baby quilt, which I still haven't done the border on. I may do 1/4" off the body of the quilt all around, then 1/2" off that line of stitching, to at least get it done.

That is gorgeous, love your fabric selections and placement. Personally I prefer the diagonals…never can keep stitches in those ditches..

Are you going to bind all on machine. I usually attach the binding by machine, but do the back side by hand - same reason, cannot keep in the ditches.

I always sew on the front by machine and whipstitch to the back.

I just did this quilt in crosshatch on the machine. Getting better at it. You'd think stitching on a line would be easy but not so much with the walking foot. Still, not too bad. Need to run a line around the border then bind.

Gonna use some lavender commercial binding I've had for about 20 years or more, laid it out below to check the look.

I have a couple of small quilts that I did the binding differently. I machine stitched it to the BACK, and then folded it over and did a decorative stitch on the front. I have a slightly fancier machine that does like 300 different stitches, including an alligator and ducklings.

Your quilting looks very even on this one. Nice job!

Thank you, I'm getting better, I think. Free motion is still a ways off for me, but I've quilted 2 small quilts in about 3 days so that's a record for me. Can't do that with hand quilting, though I prefer the look of nicely hand quilted things.

Luv it.. You are so talented.

Guess it depends on the machine, but mine does better with the regular straight stitching foot. I have a walking foot and tried it but it drove me crazy.

Please post pics of the finale.
