Something happened yesterday in town that is really troubling me today.
There was this 15 yr. old girl that has had quite a bit of police contact over the last year or so; mainly because she was a habitual runaway. She's had been missing for 30 days this last time. Just about every city cop in town and quite a few of the deputies have dealt with her. Most all of them, including my SO, had tried to tell her about the dangers of what she was doing. She wouldn't listen.
Yesterday morning the county deputies were led by a tip to a local recreational area where they found her remains scattered over an area of about an acre.
Why wouldn't she listen????

I know the answer. We all thought we were immortal at 15. It just makes me sad.

It is truly unfortunate when teenagers think they are invincible. How very sad for that to have happened to someone you know. I work for a transit authority and we get missing kids flyers all the time, one I remember was a 16 yo girl. We distirbuted them all over all the buses only to find out the next day that she had been hit by a train. The train never knew or stopped. Very sad.

What a sad story. So sorry for that girl and all those who are affected by what happened.

I hope they find who did it!

i am so thankful for my healthy, happy children. i am saddened for the parents and your community.

Oh they know who did it. A 19 year old that fled the country. I guess it was eating at him. He called someone in town and told them where to find her remains. Still remains to be seen whether they can get him back into this country to face up to what he did.

So sad to hear, I am a forensic analyst and have seen more than my fair share of crime scenes. Most people see TV shows like CSI and think it is cool. Well, no it is not.

You quickly get tired of seeing the blood, gore, rot and stench of murdered or suicide victims. You get tired of having to wade through their remains, etc. Dead people are worse than anything you can imagine. You NEVER forget a face, not ever.

The worst are the young, those who never would listen or those who never had a chance. Those who's hearts took them down the wrong path. The despondent. So, so sad....

That's horrible, I can't believe that poor girl is gone. We had something similar happen here, Kara Kopetsky went missing from town and no one's seen her since. It's so weird to hear about things on the news and all the sudden they're happening to people you know right in your own backyard. I met Kara about a month or so before she went missing, and I was more than a little surprised to see her pic up as a missing person. No one's found her body, so she may still be alive, but after almost 2 years it's not promising. So sorry to hear about this, I hope her family can find consolation.

I'm sorry to hear of such a senseless death!..and i'm sorry that you were affected by it also..:aww..
It reminds me our local tragedy several years ago, 16 year old girl named Molly Bish, what a sad case that was also, they think she was abducted during her life guard duty at a local pond here, but some of the locals here that knew her think there was more involved, and that she knew the person and went willingly with him. Her story was even on Adam Walsh's show(i think its americas most wanted)... sadly,a couple years ago a hunter found a piece of a bathing suit(in the woods behind my house..not far at all...

..that still creeps me out!..), and had the common sense to report it to the police, then they found the rest of her bones, scattered about. I feel for these poor kids, some of them really think that, "That would never happen to me." well kids it does!...just ask Molly and this other girl here.....
