can't tell the difference b/t Cuckoo Maran & Barred Rock

I didn't ask MPC how to tell. I just asked them to confirm the chicks in the order.

The biggest difference between them is that two have shorter wings and 2 are alot longer with more barring. I guess we'll see how they turn out!

They are sooo funny!

When I sing a lullaby the all snuggle in and go to sleep! My DH said he's never seen anything like it!!

The length of the feathers and amount of barring can vary from bird t bird and can't be used as a way to determine breed. I'm not sure where MPC gets their birds from but I would ask them why the marans chicks have yellow legs and also ask them what # on the marans color chart their birds lay. They claim on their website that they lay a "dark chocolate brown" egg and I have never seen anything like that from a hatchery.

None of the birds in question have yellow legs. They are a very light orange and today, two of them are turning to a shade of white grey.

MPC gets their chicks from Meyer Hatchery in Ohio.
