Can't wait to start keeping chickens!

Plymouth rocks are a very good breed. They are cold/heat hardy and I have not had either of my 2 Plymouth Rocks go broody since they started laying (about 1 1/2 years). They also lay quite well too.

I have some Orpingtons and Rhode Island Reds, and I am really loving my Orpingtons. They lay eggs even on the coldest days here in Spartanburg county, of South Carolina. Not only that, they get alone with each other so good, and they are really meaty for eating, kind of remind me of a Arnold Schwarzenegger of chickens. But because they have the sweetest nature they are susceptible to being bullied. So if you get this kind, make sure they are not mixed with bad-natured chickens cause they will treated badly by the others.
