Welcome to Backyard chickens. If you are new to chickens, head for the Learning Center. Actually young chicks stay in a brooder with a heat lamp until they are fully feathered out.- usually about 6 weeks of age.

So glad you could join our community! I hope the new coop works out well! You'll be getting a lovely breed on Saturday. Americanas are beautiful birds that lay lovely colored eggs. I've really enjoyed keeping my own Americana, and I hope you enjoy yours too.
