Hello everyone, last night my chicks hatched. Unfortunately one had the yolk sack ever so slightly exposed. Today it has gone, but it's having trouble walking. Legs are not splayed, so any suggestions why. Or am I expecting too much from her too early as she was ever so weak after hatching?

Regards, Dan

Congrats on your hatch. The chick may need more time to rest.Observe for now and if when it starts trying to walk it is still weak and having problems - give it some vitamin drops. Childrens Poly-vi-sol can be given. Put a small amount in a pop cap and dip the chicks beak to get it to drink some. It wont need much. Good Luck.

Hi, my chicks hatched last night too. This is the second batch I've hatched and it is normal for them to stagger then drop and sleep. Mine are constantly sleeping for 5 or so minutes then they wake up fall all over the place and back to sleep. I have found it does take a few days before there are able to walk properly, they have to get stronger and learn to balance. Good luck with your brood.
