It's a sci-fi thing, off a movie I've seen a hundred times and can't think of this morning, unless I DON"T get it, lol!! and we all know that is entirely possible, haha!!! There is no way I could top that Gonzo comment so I bow to the master on that one, lol!!!

it's a reference to the movie "dune"
there's a race of desert folks with weird glowing eyes and there's an element called "the spice" which does something important (keeps the people alive perhaps?) but i can't remember the specifics now . . .
one of the lines is "the spice is the life and the life is the spice" or something like that.
david bowie is in it. it's actually kinda a neato movie. pretty dated now but still neato.
oh, also, there are these giant sand worms (that, come to think of it, look a bit like meal worms, hmmmmm) that burrow under the sand and then burst through the surface at the most frightenting times and they swallow folks with their giant toothy mouth holes.
at one point the hero manages to get a harness on one of these terrible worms and rides it! wooo hooo!
maybe someone ought to but a harness on that spooky chicken and ride it across the backyard.

It is a reference to the movie "Dune". The spice was actually the infinitely huge worms that lived on the world and would come up out of the sand and eat you if it heard you walking on it. The spice was used by a race of aliens for time travel, but used by others for a mind altering experience. It would make the eyes of the users glow blue. It was Sting, not David Bowie in the movie. I could never forget those scary underwear he was wearing.

I am impressed there are Dune fans out here! I have read all the dune books plus prequels and I love it.

The books were very good and I'm a fan of the original movie. It followed the book really well but non-dune fans were lost.
I thought that the spice was the worm turds and not the actual worm, but it has been a long time
