Come check this out!
There's been quite a few of these threads but hopefully this is the one that doesn't just die off lol. My username basically suits me, im total gearhead through and through. Currently driving a 2003 subaru baja, they're quirky and some people call them ugly but there was less than 30k ever made which makes it more rare than all of the haters cars combined haha! Looking to get another daily so I can build my baja for more of a rally setup, wrx motor, suspension upgrades, safety, etc. I live in a super rural part of Colorado so there ain't much around me for rally comps/events, traveling will probably be a must. Anywho now that I've rambled on for way too long, here's some pics!!

Nice! I'm also gearhead through and through lol

I'm currently restoring a 1957 Chevy 210 4door. It's aqua blue. The passenger doors are stuck and so is the trunk. The driver doors are perfectly fine though. And the engine may or may not be locked up. It's the original V8. According to the v.i.n the car was made in Maryland (I'm in Virginia) and I'll have to go get the paper i wrote the info on to tell the rest. It has roughly 25 thou miles on it according to the odometer.

So we don't really have a car per say but we have our amazing a$$ sexy pick up truck that's what gets my motor running 🤣 I'm a farm girl 🤷🏼‍♀️ my husband knows how to get me lol she's over 20 years old and still looks pretty good she sounds like a dream 😉

No, it never rolled, and the interior is ok. Mice been in it but it's not bad . i cleaned it up. Driver floor pan has a hole in it the size of a dessert plate. After the guy i got it from's dad abandoned working on it,
It was left out in the weather until i got it.
For clarity, I mean the odometer. Not the car. :) I'd wager it's 125 or 225k vs 25k.

@Gearhead846 Ya still here? update on my car! I finally had a bit of time to work on it and found out why it's locked up. It was rebuilt, but NEVER RUN and still had break-in oil in it - the pistons are lightly rusted to the cylinders. And I got the doors unstuck and a custom tarp made for it to protect it. Any advice on next steps? like how to get it titled in my name? As soon as it's warm again there should be updates here every week.

Barely lol, just got a notification for this tho.

*PERSONAL OPINION* I'm not necessarily an expert so keep that in mind

I wouldn't even begin to worry about a title for it yet, if you can't make it road worthy there's no point in getting a title. It usually only takes a few weeks to get one anyways (I'm in CO so regulations might different if I had to guess) I'd address any rust foremost as it can kill a car faster then anything. Especially check for rusty spots in the undercarriage, suspension, drive train mounts, etc. Once that's addressed I would change out and flush every single fluid that thing has in it; coolant, brake fluid, oil, any fuel, diff oil, etc. (Emphasis on the fuel part!!!) Also in about that same period I'd replace any rubber fitting or seal that's cracked or damaged for new ones. (Especially belts, brake hoses, fuel lines, etc) then check over the carb and make sure it's in good condition.

That ought to keep you busy for a while lol. It seems daunting but I've done it before on the civic I used to own and without many issues it only took me a few weeks of working on it on and off. Cost definitely adds up quick, especially with older models such as yours, just depends on how much determination you have. I'd also ensure that your motor isn't completely locked up cause that can cost lots of $$$ to replace. To try and unlock the motor you can take the cylinder heads off and fill each one with ATF, let it sit for a day or 2, then try and break it free from the crankshaft pulley bolt (always be sure to turn in correct direction)

One last peice of advice: get on a forum/Facebook group dedicated to you vehicle and ask more specific questions there as they are more likely to know the answer better than anyone else. I for one, wouldn't necessarily be coming to a chicken website asking about restoring a 50's chev 😄
