Car ppl: Hubby's trying to do something dumb....(I think)

Another option: Have you checked to see if the alternator from the car that needs suspension work will fit the car that needs an alternator? If it will fit then you could have one of the cars running.

that's a really good idea!!! I don't think it'll work, but it's definately worth a shot!!! I have a 93 toyota camry and a 92 buick regal....

I have to agree with the post of it being more expensive to get into the accident and learning the hard way. My husband was in an accident on april 1st this year and hasnt been back to work yet.. he may even be out another 4 more months. We had to get a new car. And you dont get hardly enough money to replace what you had. Another option though I dont recomend it is not to drive faster than say 30 miles an hour.. But I wouldnt do it.. but your making me want to go and check my own lug nuts.

Bad bad BAD idea!!!

Get the truck fixed properly and ONLY drive it to the place that will do the work! Not only could he get himself killed but he could kill another person as well when(not IF) the last lug nut shears off!!!

I hope you got this fixed by now!
But if not the way to fix it is easy.
Pull the drum, hammer out the studs, replace them with new ones.
Might as well check the brakes at the same time!

I'm running through diagrams in my tiny mind and I THINK the lugs are cold pressed into the end of the axle. There's not enough room to "bang" them out without removing the axle. I don't recommend the "bang" method either, have them pressed out.
You don't have to drop the rear end to remove the axle (unless 2000's are different in some way)
I think the EASY way to go is cruise to the local junk yard and just get a whole axle and replace it.
Unless you have access to a hydrolic press.

Driving it with one lug nut is a really dumb idea. (no offence)
