Car vs Rooster!!! Can he be saved???

thanks for all of the quick responses! Ok, I unwrapped and rewrapped, poor guy's never going to heal if I don't get this right soon
sad.png
It's not any warmer than his other foot and there aren't any open wounds, but this is on the leg that is broken, whick I'm guessing you knew because I unwrapped and rewrapped, sorry, a little scatter brained I am tonite

I don't have him on any antibiotics...yet....I took an inventory of what we have in the medicine chest in the barn, but I don't think any of it will help him...here's what we have

ceftiofur hydrochloride

penicillin G Procaine Injection

lincomycin-spectinomycin

Any of these sound like they'd be of help? Otherwise I can run to Fleet Farm in the morning and get something, if they carry it....what's worked for you as far as a broad spectrum antibiotic??? and in a moment I'll have a few pics of his feet to post

This is an amazing story!
Does the skin on the swollen part of the leg look any different than the rest?
I don't know how much i'll help, but i'll try!

You think so? Could it be that simple? I hope so! I think I may be giving him too much time outside of the basket and maybe him hopping around so much just made it worse....think I'll still go pick up some meds if anyone has a suggestion of what I should get....

I've been reading all your posts & just though about this site that I found a few weeks ago. It's an online avian vet/expert that is manned 24/7. Maybe they could give you some insight. I have never had to consult any of the vets/experts, but have read through some of the postings. Can't hurt to see what they say or how it works. http://www.justanswer.com/pet-bird/
Hope
you can get some answers.

Well don't get too happy! I'm not an expert, but that is kinda what it looks like to me. Tell me if the swelling goes down.
I'm always happy to help!

Ok, yikes. I think it's a severe mite infestation and the mites have caused the infestation and deformities in his feet. If I were you, I would rub tea tree oil on them and then seal that in with vasalien. (sp?)

That's my two cents. I don't think it's 2 separate issues.
