Car vs Rooster!!! Can he be saved???

SORRY it took so long to get back! lol And as it turns out, my two yr old is innocent...I found my camera in the pocket of the robe I don't normally wear, soooooo I'm guilty

lol

Here's the link to Lucky's latest video...

He's quite eager to get out of his cage any time I open the door, I just don't think he's ready yet...I don't know? He's got til next week with the splint (6 weeks is what I read is the minimum for a bone to heal), though he his kind of walking on that leg...That must mean it's not hurting him like it was!

His beak is still a little short on top, but it's growing nicely too...I just can't even believe that I managed to save this poor little roo...the condition he was in, wow. Just wow... Another thing, and I'll have to try to get some pictures tomorrow, but it almost looks as though he's got some feathers coming in all down the sides of his legs...I'm pretty sure he was on the tail end a molt when I found him because he had new feathers growing right away, but with the feathers coming in on his legs, I wonder if he's not mixed with some other breed than just Game...huh. His legs still don't look much different, but they certainly look better without all of the crazy bruising he had...I'll start slathering him up again once I have the splint off and see if that helps with the dry looking scales...though I do still wonder if that's not just an indication of his age and the hard life he's had

Thanks again everyone for your support of Lucky!...and I'm still working on that T-shirt/coffee mug idea

Isn't next week 5 weeks?

Anyway, you've done an amazing job.

you're right!...the 14th is six weeks since I found him and I guess the 17th or 18th would be six weeks since I put on the splint that has stayed on

Thank you, thank you!!!

Wow - what are you feeding him??? He's loving every single morsel .. and does NOT want to share
lol.png
!!! Such a difference between the (sorry) pathetic bird you picked up off the side of the road and the stud muffin he is now. And I'm so excited that he's putting weight on his broken leg! So glad to hear this - once again, you've done a phenomenal job with him (and I think the ladies would agree

He's getting eggs with crushed egg shells every morning, the same layer feed the girls get, but in this particular video he had a pile of sunflower seeds and scratch on top of his feed...still, the same thing I'd just tossed out for the ladies...they must just think it's better because it's his

lol I do bring him other treats from time to time that they don't get so I'm sure they figure everything he's getting is better...but he deserves it and he needs it....AND it seems to be working!
