When Pike kicked, Col lost his grip on the caravan guard's feet. But he was committed now, figuring that he was probably as good as dead after this if Pike managed to get past the snake unharmed. So he fumbled in the dark, trying to catch Pike's boot again. The boot caught him in the hand once, bending his finger back painfully, but then his hand managed to find Pike's pant leg and he took a strong grip on Pike's ankle, trying to push him forward once again. "Whatcha stoppin' for?" he yelled.

Despite his best efforts to lodge himself in the tunnel, Pike once again found himself being shoved forwards against his will. This time the snake was not so receiving of his presence, and recoiled angrily, this time preparing to strike. Making the connection between the snake's movements and its intentions, Pike tried to move backwards again but could not beat the speed of the snake's strike. Its cold teeth sank deep into his left arm, instantly transporting a dose of its venom. The pain was followed was excruciating. A blood curling scream of agony split his lips, audible even to Terrick and Raven behind Col.

Only moments after Raven informed him of the snake in the tunnel, he heard Pike's muffled screams. And he felt completely helpless to do anything about it. If Pike had been bit, the only thing he could think to do was get through as fast as possible and hope they could do something to help him on the other side.

Col, feeling his own foot being pulled, sent a kick toward Raven with his other foot, trying to dislodge her. He realized suddenly that his plan might have a fatal flaw... If Pike didn't push the snake out the other side of the tunnel, Col might find himself face to face with it in just a moment. And judging by Pike's scream echoing through the tight enclosure, it would not be a pleasant experience.

Raven evaded his kick, pulling back, and nearly hitting the tunnel's roof. She frowned at the sound of Pike's scream and pulled an arrow out of her quiver, holding it to Col's leg as if it was a knife. "Back up, now" she told the bandit.

Once the snake finally released Pike's arm, the guard pounded it up against the wall, more reflexively than consciously. He could feel the venom spreading through his veins like fire, similar to the feeling of swallowing a cold drink on a very hot day. Expecting the pain to only get worse, Pike kicked out behind him to hit Col, and give himself a bit more of a boost forwards. He wanted to get out of the narrow tunnel as fast as he possibly could before the bite made him physically unable. The pain seemed to give him more energy than usual and he started to make fairly decent time through the last couple feet of the tunnel. When he finally reached the end he launched himself out as fast as he could, deciding to deal with anything that might be waiting on the other side when he got out. His arm was already going tingly and numb, and swelling to nearly twice its normal size.

With the commotion, Col pretended not to hear Raven's command to back up. Instead, he hurried forward as fast as he could pull himself, receiving a gash from his mid-calf down to the top of his boot as he pulled his leg past Raven's arrow. There was only one thought on his mind now and that was to get out of the tunnel and be gone before the other two could emerge from the tunnel.

Breaking free, he emerged into a much larger cavern, this one almost tall enough to stand up in without fear of hitting his head against the ceiling. He could make out Pike's form only a few feet away by the light from the stone. He didn't know how that thing worked, but it would sure beat trying to navigate the rest of the tunnel in the dark so he reached out for it, intending to take it from Pike's grasp.

Raven said something in elvish and moved to go the rest of the way through the tunnel, pausing by the snake to make sure it was dead and to see what kind it was. She found that by concentrating on the men, she was able to push aside her fear of the small tunnel and get through the rest of the way. Once free of the low tunnel she pulled her sword out.

(Sorry for disappearing, yesterday I spent almost the entire day snow-shoeing and my internet has been acting really funny the last couple days...)

Free of the tunnel, Pike collapsed against the wall of the larger cavern, breathing heavily. Col's form swam in and out of focus as the bandit lurched towards him to grab the light stone, but despite his efforts to defend himself, Pike's movements were weak and sluggish. His arm still felt like it was on fire, but the pain was slowly receding to a more manageable level. Expecting to lose conciousness, Pike was surprised when at about the same time his vision began coming back, and his muscles began responding properly to his brain again.

(No problem. Snow-shoeing sounds fun, but tiring!)

Quick to take advantage of Pike's situation, Col plucked the light stone from Pike's hand and took off as fast as he could manage, leaving an obvious trail of blood from the wound Raven's arrow had left on his leg. About 30 feet ahead of where Pike was lying, the tunnel split and the ceiling rose up so that one could stand up comfortably again. Col took the left tunnel, which would soon bring him into the cavern where Linden and Mavis where being kept. The right tunnel was blocked by heavy steel bars.

(TinyBeaks, if you're still interested in playing, your character can be there!)

Raven got through the tunnel, pausing by Pike for a moment before turning to chase after Col.
