Carcass comparisons and discussions

I do, my first three are all passing week 17 and are around 20lbs each right now. I'll get some pics of them up shortly, they're really quite personable and not the dummies I was expecting
My next round of turkeys are turning 27 weeks, or 6 months old next month.

Mine weren't as dumb as my first few over the first few years of raising Turkeys. Which surprised me. We have the same thing going on with our birds.

Here's a 42lb Broad Breasted Bronze Turkey.

I love a good, big turkey with plenty of leftovers, but what on earth did you cook it in? I can barely get a 24# turkey in my big roaster -- the one I had to take with me when shopping for stoves because so many modern ovens won't hold a big roaster pan.

We just squeezed it into a large roaster. And cooked it in the oven.

Grew it on Flock Raiser, & Some Scratch Grains. Scratch was for adding abit more fat to the bird before butcher, & to help keep it moist during the baking process for Thanksgiving.

I get poults from Meyer's Hatchery every year.

Taste is very great, & juicy. Compared to store bought Turkey, it's better by 100%.

The bird was about 7-8 months old.
I have nothing to add to the main discussion, but I had to come here and say that is the biggest turkey (in terms of meat yield) I think I've ever seen in my entire life. That is super impressive. You should be proud of that bird!

We're very proud of that bird, since it's from the first batch of turkeys we've raised, & it's the biggest one we've ever grew.
