I am going to be selling ducklings soon, and I wanted to print out a simple care sheet to give buyers to make sure they know what they're doing :D. A lot of it is based on my experience, and some on advice from others. I know not everyone puts their ducklings outside at 4 weeks old so maybe I shouldn't put that, although it has worked well for me. Can anyone think of anything important I should change or add? Thank you!

I think you can out that if the weather is good, they can go outside at 4 weeks. That's the age I put them out. I think it's smart to have a care guide so that newbies can take better care of their new friends. Very well done!
Okay, thank you! I've heard that some people keep them inside up to 8 weeks, which I can't imagine suffering through 😆. So I wasn't sure what the "rule of thumb" age was.

Dang, that's a long time! With baby chicks I could MAYBE see keeping them in that long but with ducks... absolutely no way! I'm already cleaning out the brooder everyday by the time 4 weeks rolls around. I feel like you'd have to clean it three time a day if you keep them inside any longer!

Oh my - I can't imagine that either! 😅 We actually move them with their heat plate to their outdoor house at 2-3 weeks as it's not drafty just to have them be outside instead of inside. Haha

I love this! I do something similar with my pigs and try to get a phone conversation in with new owners a few weeks before to see how their housing and fencing are going. I love the idea of putting it all in a guide they can refer back to as well. Great idea!

Yeah, I might feel like they should be inside longer if I was raising them in winter, but it still wouldn't be fun. I'm sure most people who buy ducklings have done their research or raised them before but some people do impulse buy.

What kind of pigs do you raise?

I love that you're being so thoughtful about it! My internet is so slow that it's not letting me download or open the file.

I'm hoping others will jump on and have input.

But brilliant idea!
