Carnage this morning - what was it? WARNING GRAPHIC PHOTO"S!!!!

Looks like classic COON to me, one got 9 of my birds this week and just killed to kill.

HenniePennie yes, they are excellent climbers. The only predator that I know of that is not a good climber is the Coyote. They will just jump a 6' fence.

HenniePennie:
If it were me, I'd sit out there in the dark with my .22 all night & be ready to shoot--- that is what I'd do . . . if I had to sit up all night, I would be waiting for it. It will be back.

I am not that good a shot with a 22 so I use my 20g. and have sat up many a night. Only sure way to take care of a racoon. A trap is the next best or if you cannot stay awake long enough. lol

They always come back....one even killed my old cat when it couldn't find a chicken.

Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas and told me it was a racoon. I thought it might be a coon but wasn't totally sure.
Last night I put the turkeys in with the hens and put the ducks back into the 'babies' house.
If I put wire on top and a tarp over the wire so when it does start to rain (and boy does it ever rain here) they are protected. Would that also keep the coon out?
I want to be able to leave the ducks out somehow.
