I had both my hands done, 6 wks apart, and recovered within the year. I also had them done when my son was only 3 months old. That was my wake-up call, I was so numb in my hands, wrists, and arms, that I couldn't tell I didn't have a hold on him, and literally dropped him. Thank the Good Lord above that it was onto a couch. Scared me so bad, though, that I went in, and scheduled surgery the following week. Although my hands do ache from time to time now, because I still use them extensively for massage, sewing, beading, crafting, etc, it is NOTHING like before. I am with the others, the surgery has been an absolute blessing in my life! I sleep through the night, I don't drop things ( or babies!!!) anymore, and I can still type, write, and craft.
Baby your hands a bit, so that you can get full recovery, that is the one thing I have heard from every one else I have ever talked to that had this done. Let your body recover, then have fun!! Also, remember to SSTTRREEETTCCHHH!! Don't let those muscles bunch up too much, use your braces, and do the exercises if you feel like your hands are tightening up. Good luck on your other hand!!
