I don't know if there is such a thing, but what can I do to keep the little critters from boring into my coop?

There's no exposed wood on our house, so we've never had a problem with them. My trainer's barns look like Swiss Cheese, and I don't want that to happen to my coop!

I've heard that they won't bore into painted wood, just bare wood.

I can't confirm nor deny that though for sure, just what I've heard. lol

This is true my parents redid their deck and had that problem until they stained it. So I would paint it as soon as possible...

So I'd guess that just varnish wouldn't do the job. I know it already has at least one coat on it. My husband feels another coat will do the trick. But, the wood is rough hewn, so I don't think it would do much. I can see where paint will put a barrier on the surface.

LOL Wait until he hears this one. I know he'll pitch a fit if I tell him I want funky colors. He can be so boring

they will eat through paint and stain. i have them bored into my garage which is painted, and on my deck which is stained. i kill them with wasp spray but they are right back. my stupid neighbor is like "yeah, they dont sting you so dont kill them" they're into his garage, so i dont think anything i do will keep them away. stupid. they're just destroying half this house. grr!

"They eat right thru the white paint on our front porch and the red stain on the other deck"

"they will eat through paint and stain. i have them bored into my garage which is painted, and on my deck which is stained."

Well, that isn't encouraging .... LOL

eew, yeah. when i first heard them in my garage, i thought i had rats! and the sawdust they leave behind is an aweful mess.
