I have a theory that if a restaurant offers carrot cake, you can almost always judge the quality of everything they make by the quality of its carrot cake.

that might only be local to the Kansas City area though... my research on this has been pretty much only in that area

I normally eat carrot cake fully clothed, but I guess I could try stripping down to see if that makes it taste better
