I have 14 4 week olds and it seems every couple of days, I've had to get a larger container for carting the group around. We're currently using two office storage boxes. I thought about using one of my large muck buckets with some orange netting across the top, but it turns out the bottom of that isn't any larger than the office box, so I couldn't fit them all in it. We're starting daily trips outside for a little pen time and it would be nice if I could haul their little feathered butts out by myself.

I think they're starting to make the connection of me packing them up with going outside. On Sunday, 10 of them didn't flee and actually seemed to line up to be picked up out of the brooder. Yesterday, my love, Garnet, actually leaped into my Dad's hand and it seemed that Ruby and Amber were leaning into me as if they wanted to, but weren't sure yet. Makes you wonder how much is learned behavior and how much is intelligence?

I'd say it's some of both. My chicks are about 3 weeks old and now 2 of them "jump ship" whenever I open the door to their crate. It's on top of a large dog crate 3 feet high. They use every opportunity to escape and run around the familyroom.
