castrate a rooster

I agree he's not a comet, but if he's crowing then he's definitely a rooster. If you post a pic, we can ID what breed he is, and that may help him find a good home. I'm never too optimistic about finding homes for cockerels, but the fact is you never know who may be looking for a new rooster in your area

16 weeks does increase the risk for the cockerel. Sorry my information didn't help you. However, caponizing is a lost art in this country. However, in other countries youngster are 'neutered' on a regular basis in very primitive conditions. You Tube has some eye-opening videos of chicks being caponized in assembly-line fashion. Yikes!
 
Thank you all so much for all your help with my little guy. I guess now I need to find him a good home. He's lived an organic, range-free, no vaccines, happy life. I hope I can help him to continue that way. Thanks again.
