Hi all,

I am raising a bumper crop of rats in the chicken barn this year so I am getting a cat. This cat has to be good to my baby rabbits so I found this ad on Kijiji for a local cat who "...used to lie beside my hamster and snuggles with our rabbit..."

I'll let you know what happens!

waste of time wow worsst waste of time ever

THis is NOT how you get a cat that hunts rats i am sorry but you just got a nice pet i dont think it will be a hunter lol 100 percent dont think

TO get a hunter you need to get a BARN cat that was taught by its mother to hunt rats not a cat that is at home cuddling with hamsters, usually a female.

hunting rats is a LEARNED SKILL the cat is not going to wake up after cuddling with your bunny and all of a sudden have the skill it takes to catch and kill a rat. It needs to learn how to do it first.

I'd poison them. Not only is the above poster right about the cat's hunting skill (or lack thereof), your rats will multiply faster than one cat can kill them. That is, if you can find a cat that will kill rats. I have had cats that are mousers, but won't touch a rat. My black lab is better than any cat for getting rid of rats.

Yeah, would a cat have trouble discerning between a rat and a rabbit, both would be equally tasty I would think...I use poison. Find the rat tunnel and give em a feast...haven't seen sign one of a rat for over a year now, besides why do you want a cat?
