I left this morning, only to come home to both of my goslings missing from the brooder. The brooder has a top on it, but it was knocked crooked and they were gone. One was in the kitchen, he is fine, but the other hatched more recently and wasn't even walking yet. I found him in a grocery bag in the middle of the floor. He had a couple little scratches, they weren't really bleeding, just red and irritated, and he has a small scratch on his bill.

It has been about 3 hours, and he is acting a little lethargic. He still gets up and moves around but he is laying down for the most part. He has been drinking since, but I haven't seen him eat much. I am really worried about it. I have given him a bit of sugar water, but it didn't seem to help at all. Can goslings have Poly-Vi-Sol drops?? I know they are ok for weaker chicks..

(oh they are now in a dog crate so nothing else can harm them!!)

Any advice??
(i posted in the "Geese" section as well)

What's your temp. in the brooder?
I don't know about poly vi sol for geese, sorry.
Electrolytes and vitamins in the water would be good.
Hopefully someone in the geese section responds to you, the duck section might be able to help too!
Good Luck with your gossies!

I've never hatched goslings but I'm assuming they can't out of a brooder by themselves initially so if the cat brought it out, the cat's saliva very likely got in even shallow wounds/scratches.
If so, antibiotic will likely be needed for survival (this is typically the case with small animals that have cat's saliva in wounds). A wildlife rehab center can advise re: this....
Could there also be puncture wounds from the cat?

brooder temp is 97*F There are no punctures, I have looked this baby over inch by inch to make sure. When I pick him up now he goes kind of limp in my hand.

As much as i love this baby, I cannot afford a vet bill right now. I'll put electrolytes in the water, and give him a couple drops of poly-vi-sol.

Still looking for any other advice that can be offered.

If there is infection nothing but antibiotics will help.
Someone else will no doubt come along with info as to the best food,,,
