Cat attacking ducks

You're having quite a dilemma because you're not legal and that makes it a lot harder. If you were legal, you could call animal control or capture the cat and bring it to the pound. But, in both cases, that would also get you in trouble because they would find out about your ducks. And, since you can't put up any fence at all, that makes it worse.

The only solution is to find a way to keep your ducks penned up well enough that the cat won't get them. Can you put up any fencing at all, even a small portion of your yard? Do you have a garage or some other room in your house where you can keep them?

That's my opinion because if they can't respect you or the love you have for your own pets, sooner or later the cat is very likely going to kill some or even all of your ducks. Personally I don't care if you're legal for the ducks or not, because nuisance stray animals can damage a lot more than ducks...they can dig in a garden, dump over garbage or bite a child too.

OK... gotta ask...

If you would need 36 or so of the sonic thingy-majiggys, and they reach 30 feet...
Even supposing you are putting them on all 4 sides, that means that each side of your yard is 120 ft? Or are you just putting them across the front since you said the neighbor lives across the road?

Why are the ducks illegal? Are you sure they are? (Not to make it sound like I think you would not know... but I was surprised what is allowed in even the city here in VA).

If it lives across the road... you could hope for a car to hit it!

That's just terrible was this country has become...3 acres of property and not allowed to have ducks.

Was a time when it was considered a patriotic duty of a citizen to grow food for themselves...now factory farms are promoted by laws. I really hope to see this trend reversed.

I'm with you too I live in a neighborhood were they are not aloud but I am getting 2 male mallards, I use to have 1 female and 1 male but a bobcat sliced the females neck at night and we gave the male to a farm sanctuary. Stupid rules but if people ask about my ducks I will just it's from the river across the street we have tons of Blue bellied whistlers and mallards in the river.

It's amazing you have three acres and can't keep a few ducks. We're on half an acre and are allowed as many fowl as we want as well as any farm animal which does not exceed 75 pounds at adult weight. Three acres should be plenty of space to keep some ducks or chickens or whatever without it bothering anyone.

What about 1 male and 1 female????

You can get one male and female but you might have to get more females later down the road. It depends on how sexual agressive the male is. By just having one female, she will most likely be overbred and she will start to stress and pull her feathers. I'd say the absolute minimum is 2 females to a male.
