I thought of a small pool noodle, but figured they may eat it. Any ideas?
I probably would screw/bolt a piece or 2 of wood to the plastic.

So if they get the population numbers wrong why would you think the nest boxes are the 'right' sizeYes they lie to sell, but the best boxes are still smaller than the litter boxes. I think I may have some PVC pipes in the shed. Good idea. Thanks!
I guess it's possible, but I also just saw a post on the great scavenger hunt thread and there are two hens in one box, made from a cat litter bucket. If any of mine don't like them, I guess I will find out if they last on the ground. So if they get the population numbers wrong why would you think the nest boxes are the 'right' sizethat was my point.
PVC would work if you can cut a slot length wise, but I was thinking flexible tubing that you can cut with scissors...like I did on these feeders.

Just because you can cram so many birds in a nest(or a coop) doesn't mean that's the best scenario.I guess it's possible, but I also just saw a post on the great scavenger hunt thread and there are two hens in one box, made from a cat litter bucket. Well, I believe we are just going to have to agree to disagree because my daughter just collected two eggs from two different boxes AND as I said, most of my birds ARE bantams.
