Cat eating my chicks

I wouldn't shoot ANY projectile unless you know it's absolutely legal in your city. Also, in most places you can get in trouble for "animal cruelty" by shooting them with stuff like BB guns, pellet guns or even paint guns, though keep in mind you CAN kill them in most places.

Your best bet is to set traps and bring the animal to animal cruelty or animal control. If the owner is neglecting the cat in the first place, I wouldn't bring them back to her. She'll just neglect them again. They have a better chance over at animal cruelty or animal control.

The other thing you can do is fortify separate housing for them until they're old enough to be with the big chickens. I don't know how many you have but a sturdy wooden box with an adjoining covered chicken pen would do well. There are a lot of people with nice pictures of their small coop setups. Something like an Eggloo Chicken House/Coop would work well too and it's small enough for the city.

Cats *usually* do really well with chickens, but chicks are a free meal. I don't think they can help themselves

Turn your lovely neighbor into the police dept. She just can't let the animal roam free to do what it pleases because she is irresponsible. Have animal control come out and trap the feral cats because they are usually in poor shape and cause disease.

What are your chicks housed in? Can you put them in something more sturdy?

She let the cat out all of the time and it is always around the chickens

My chicks were living with hens already and the hens tried to fight off the cat and one of them lost a few feathers

2 folding tables sunk in the dirt with 20 feet of nylon screening put on like a table cloth and weighed down by roof tiles along the entire perimeter

Please help me the awful cat got into the above enclosure and left my cuckoo maran half eaten!!!! and the other chicks have claw marks
I don't have a gun so I can't shoot it

can you have them in the house for a while until you can get a better cage for outside? How many chicks are you raising?

I use a bird cage for mine and my cats couldn't get into it. I picked it up at the Goodwill for 15 dollars...

It's the white cage on top of a homemade brooder/jail/recoup that I made from pallets and scrap wood, plus a bit of chicken wire
