Cat has rabies???

You should not own a cat if you can't take care of it.

Whether you have the money are not your cats HAS to go to the vet if you want her to live. Maybe you can ask the vet if you can pay for the treatment in payments. PLEASE take her to the vet!

THAT CAT HAS RABIES. I see no other reason for not walking, drool, strange behaviour and avoidance of water.

Call the county animal control, they will come out an take care of it for you.

I'm really sorry but she needs to be put down right away.

eta: you need to see YOUR doctor about getting vaccinated. Go to the nearest ER if you don't have a doctor. You handled the cat when she was bit, and she's been contagious for at least a week. Not to scare you, but I want you to be safe. THERE IS NO CURE FOR RABIES.

Well unfortunately my grandma just left out of town, she said call animal control to, but she said to not say its my cat? Is there something bad if i say its my cat? I am going to try and call humane society or animal control now and see if they can come get her :\\

Bock: There is no cure, I would only have to put her down. And with money, my mom always paid, and she went to work now. I really wish she woke me up earlier and then I could go with her to a vet, ug!

Worked at the vet for 9 years... there are many reasons that can could be acting the way it is other than having rabies. She could have an abcess on her neck, that will cause drooling, she could have an infection, distemper, leukemia, aids (feline only kind), the list could go on and on. Many animals will not eat or drink when they are sick. You do need to get her to the vet asap and let them find out what is wrong with her. Has she ever been vacinated for rabies?

Distemper sometimes have signs of rabies...had a female barn cat that displayed rabies like sydrome and took her to the vet. Nope, it is distemper.

Whatever the case, if it rabies, poisoning, distemper or any other sickness, unless you like playing russian roulette with your life (and your family), take the cat to the vet or animal control. Until you know what kind of illness this cat has, you can either make payment with a little downpay or apply for credit card for pets (can not remember what it was), or the cat has to be put down if it is DX with rabies. There is NO cure for rabies for animals, even there is painful treatments for rabies for humans....not fun as I heard. Very very painful.

She had been vaccinated, but I don't know if it expired. I wish I could do a vet but I don't want to wait if it is rabies.

Really how long rabies vaccine good for? It is not one of those once in a lifetime shots.

My vet will let me take in my mom's dogs and she comes and pays later...

As for saying it's not your cat I think that's because she's afraid you'd get fined for not having it licensed or vaccinated. I think it's too late now. If you call animal control and they come out they will care for your animal as their first priority. They will understand that you DO care, BECAUSE you called, even if you can't afford the regular care that they really should have.

Good luck, Base on the injury, I'm still suspicious of rabies, but if you can have it tested for distemper first and that's the problem, then that would save the cat's life, because there is really only one way to test for rabies...

True, but they are 3 year vaccines... how old is the cat? Also some animals keep up the immunities in their body most of their lifetime. Can you not call your mom and ask her if you can take the cat to the vet.

If you can not remember the last vaccination, call the vet that did her shots, they should have it on records.
