Cat Problems anybody?

But you fenced your whole yard, not just a coop and run sized area for your kids to play in while they get ogled by strays....as has been suggested for the poor chickens.

Chicken poo in your yard is a bit nasty but at least they're your chickens, someone elses dog poo on the other hand - not nice !!!!

Employ the triple "S" method. Shoot, shovel and shut up. Nothing more humane than a bullet to the head. It actually works on all preditors, but you can get in trouble if you do it on hawks and/or owls so I would avoid those. Anything else go for it. Most states have a law that allows livestock owners to dispatch threats to their livestock, cats included.

If everyone kept their so called "beloved" pet locked up I wouldn't have to shoot the dang thing!
So, what your'e saying is its okay for your wandering animal to kill MINE on MY property? AND I should try and find owner of said chicken killer and return their "beloved" nuisance chicken killing pet and then...............what? Hold hands and sing songs? Tell them their POOR fluffy is just misunderstood? PLEEEAAASSSEE keep him home, PLEEEEAAAAASSE.

In the meantime my chickens are being slaughtered on MY land and it ok because its just a (fill in pet here) and sooooooooooooo misunderstood.

EVIL CHICKEN OWNERS!! HOW DARE YOU!!!

Someone must have forgot to give me that list of which animals are more important than mine. Does anyone have it? I wouldn't want to shoot any more of your useless cats. I know my chickens only provide food for 4 families. I sure wish someone would have told me cats were more important.

It is the cat owner's fault, not the cat--its just being a cat which are consumate predators. Talk to the owner and tell them you'll take the cat to be destroyed if it does it again (BB's if hit the cats chest can and do kill them horribly). It angers me that some folks let their pets wander off their property and someone who keeps their pets on their own land has to deal with the consequences. Sad for the cats to have such an oblivious owner that the cat has to pay with its life. My cats are strictly indoors and have a great fulfilling lives as they still play and are pushing 14 years old. They can fix their fence with a tilted top that keeps the cat from getting out or keep indoors. They need to do research!

Sorry for your loss.

If my hypothetical dog got lose and killed or hurt livestock or pets I would thank the other owner for taking care of my problem and fully reimburse them for their animals full value. Then blame myself and mourn the dog because I was too stupid to train and secure it.

Dh and I live on a farm with hundreds of acres of family land around us. For someone else’s dog to run for miles at points to get here and then jump the big fence is not my fault. 90% of the time our chickens are in coops that would take a bear or several ticked off big dogs to even damage. The other 10% of the time the chicken are in the still fenced in yard while we play with our children outside and sorry chickens but if a big aggressive dog shows up I am grabbing toddlers and children first. If its safely secured on my property, on my land and your dog trespasses and then kills livestock or pets…well you are legally out of luck because I will act within the full legal measures of the law.

Not to say I am trigger happy and kill everything, the neighbors aussies often spend the day tied to my porch in the shade with a bowl of water till the neighbors get home from work to collect their naughty puppies. Just because I care and would rather find some bailing twine and a water bowl and make the dogs wait then hear that they got hurt or killed on some road.

And its a waste of good BB's. So, I'm supposed to take the cat that someone dumped on me, or that the neighbor allows to roam, put it in my vehicle so it can spray all over or crap all over, (cats in traps get really angry, but that another story altogether) take it to someone who may or may not destroy it,or give it back to the owner who could care less? Its easier to dig a hole, shoot it, (with a 30-06 so it won't suffer) and get rid of the problem. Saves gas, and now I have lots of wild birds, rabbits, and other native critters that the cats had been killing, along with my chickens.

I have been having problems with my neighbors feral cats killing my chicks. I have a pen inside of a pen and they still manage to get into the coop. The neighbors have said that the cats aren't theirs (even though they feed them) and don't want to take any responsibility.

Since I didn't want to shoot the cats I call my animal control. Turns out I can trap them and he will come and pick them up no charge. Maybe you can get a hold of animal control and they will do the same in your area
