Cat used potted plant as litter box

This could definitley be a sign she has developed a bladder infection. We had a cat begin to pee on the bathroom rug a few years ago in spite of a clean cat box. It proved to be a UTI. If the behavior is new for your cat, it might be wise to have her checked out. JMHO.

nope 2 girls- funny thing was I thought it was my chihuahua having accidents near litter box or in clothes--OK Im going to admit something-I smelle dit ok?? yup I stuck my nose right in it to figure out what the heck>???? So the laundry basket was deffinately cat pee-but the spots near kitty litter box smelled just like dog pee but after seeing her with my own eyes last night doing it-I was shocked I wanted to clock her fat butt!

My boy kitty goes on a spraying spree every time he gets in the house...

WORST SMELL EVER. When my baby deer Samantha stayed in the house she had accidents ALL the time... THAT might rivel boy cat pee but other than that yup worst smell ever.

Cat pee will also kill the plant so a very thorough rinsing with water or repotting and keeping the cat out of it now instead of later is very important to the survival of the tree. Too many accidents in the soil and you'll end up throwing the whole thing away. For now you can just make pot covers. Someone mentioned foil and my mom uses cardboard. She just cuts a circle the size of the pot, cuts a line to the center, and cuts another circle the size of the plant's base. Slide it on and no more cat issues. You can paint it if you want it to look more like a matching lid and less like a chunk of cardboard.

Cats are very picky about litter. Switching to something else may get you a perfectly litterbox trained cat with no issues. Personally I haven't found a cat that likes pellets. We actually use chicken layer feed. Shavings could be used too. Mine will all climb in the brooders if I leave them open.

I work at the vet office. we recommend, citrus peels (replace every few days), chyanne pepper, tin foil or plastic wrap.well my cat didn't read that book and climbed in a peed and pooped on the plastic wrap and the pepper.
I cleaned out what soil I could, then put in a few fresh dryer sheets, he's not been back.
(ok funny story, sort of... the dog and cat have this hate/hate relationship. so the cat peed in the plant and then so did the dog but since he's alot bigger, watered the floor too) at least now they both stay away from the plant.

run your clothes through a rinse with white vinegar, that will help get the smell out of the clothes.

Not sure if this will work, but my grandma always put moth balls in her flower gardens to keep the neighbors cats from going in there.

Maybe that will keep the cat from using it again. Probably wont smell that great at first, but its gotta be better than cat pee!
