Cat was gone for three days; Sadly, didn't survive

When is the soonest that you can get her in to see the vet. Keep us updated on what the vet says. Maybe somebody hurt her.

I'm thinking probably tonight. Yay emergency vet visits...

The vet'll say that it costs $800 for a surgery to repair her leg, so I'm scared to know how much euthanasia costs... I don't want to know. I don't want to put her down unless she would have NO quality of life; like if her spine was broken or something. Just can't sink a thousand dollars into a kitty.

As sad as it is, sometimes you just have to forget what you want and do what's best for the animal.

WHY do we have to get so attached to them?!

I'm so glad she made it back home though; she could have easily been picked off by a fox or even an owl in her current state.

So sorry about her leg. Glad you figured it out tho. 800.00 or more on a cat. I could not afford that. I would not give up on her yet tho. Her leg may heal and she could be able to get around just fine. I would wait and see.

What ever you decide will be right for you and her.

Our cat went missing overnight and came home in bad shape a while ago. His nose was bleeding and he kept coughing. We took him to the vet and he said he had been kicked in the face, take him home and let him rest. At midnight I checked on him and his eye was almost popped out of the socket from the swelling and internal bleeding so we took him back to the vet. He had a broken nose and a fractured eye socket but 2 days later he was on the mend and now he can see just fine (and is still a very pretty cat) So don't give up. They're very tough little critters. Good Luck

I know it's hard.

Oh I know she'll probably make it if she doesn't have any internal problems, but I'm still worried...

Other family members have had cats they took in as a young cat and had two broken back legs/pelvis/back area and he lived to somewhere over 18 years of age before needing to be put down. That was an awesome cat.

So I have hope for Missie, but still scared for her.

I'm sorry for your loss. She really was lucky to have you love her and give her love in the end.
She was probably hit by a car and went into shock. I know she appreciated the heating pad.

Yeah, I don't know what else we could have done really.

I guess it's better to put her out of her misery than to take her home and let her die in pain. But it still hurts.

Hey, eight years is the longest I think we've ever had an animal.

If she did get hit by a car though, what I can't understand is how she didn't have any broken bones or anything, just labored breathing.

(Since I posted about her back left leg, I've come to realize that it probably wasn't a leg at all; I think it was her actual body that was hurting her.)

Going to bury her tonight when she comes home from the vet.

Gah! I need to stop talking about this.
