I have the opportunity to get a Catalina Macaw with 2 cages and all her toys and accessories. The lady is getting rid of her because it was her daughters and she went to college. She is 4 years old and semi tame, but not holdable(will not step up). What is a good price for her and everything else?
PLEASE RESPOND, YOUR OPINION MATTERS!

Not being in Idaho, it is difficult to say. I would recommend that the price include a certification of health from a vet you trust. Preferably an avian specialist, there are lots of things birds can have without symptoms. At my vet, these tests were about $200, on top of the $800 I paid for Dylan, the African Grey in my avatar. I could tell she looked healthy, so I bought her with no vet OK. Turns out Dylan, sold as a male, was female. So, from my hind-sight is 20/20 perspective, A vet check and DNA sexing should have been done before purchase. But, I love Dylan, just the same. Her price should have been less as a 22 year old female than a 9 year old male, though.
Good luck on your new flock member!
