Catch or Herd them?

It's a lot easier if you don't carry a light, or if you have a red light (they can't see the red). They aren't like chickens where you can pick them off of the roost, but they are much more mellow after dark.
 
runners are great for herding... they were bred for it. If you can get another person to do some herding with you, it helps a great deal. 1lpook is right though. You have to be good at herding. My husband is awful at it and usually ends up running them somewhere they don't need to be. I don't have him help me anymore unless it's just to stand in one place.

Or you can corral them into a small area you've closed off in the current pen and catch them from there. It's easier if you can get a hand around the neck before trying to get the wings under control. Duck necks are pretty sturdy things... much more sturdy than their feet. Don't catch them by their feet at all.
