So recently my neighbors cats have been getting in my yard and disturbing my chickens. It used to just be at night, and I’d get them locked up early enough it wasn’t much of a problem. Well now, they are getting in the yard in the middle of the day.

I’ve set traps but to no avail. I’ve tried telling them the issue, but they aren’t going to do anything. What’s the best way to trap them? I’ve been trying to use Dry cat food and bacon grease as bait, but it’s not working out too well.

I have caught several feral cats over the years, using a humane trap/cage and some soft cat food! If you trap them, what will you do with them? They will come back if your neighbor keeps them out!
Good luck!
When we try to catch feral cats we use wet cat food or tuna. You want something that smells really good to override their caution. Good luck! what do you plan to do with the cat once you trap it??
Thanks! I will let the neighbor know, that they were in our yard again and got in our trap. If that doesn’t work, I’ll take them to our animal control. They can get them back from there. It’s not the first time I’ve had to go to those measures, except it was chihuahuas.
I’m not really sure what else to do about it, other than try and show them I’m serious.

I am glad to hear that you plan on talking to them then taking a harsher stand if it continues. Good luck!

I had this problem a few years ago. Neighbor believed in going for the world's record in populating our area in feral cats. He raised them by the dozens but left them to fend for themselves so of course they'd come over and eat my chicks/juveniles by the handfuls.
I used the store bought live traps and homemade rabbit type box traps with great success.
Also used wet canned cat food or cheap tuna/ mackerel/ etc.
As for what to do with them.....

My little cat went missing. Fortunately I found her in the next village but as she was so scared she wouldn’t break cover and come to me. I had to use a humane trap and I found the best thing was tinned mackerel/sardines in tomato sauce. It stunk to high heaven but it did the trick. Also covering the trap helped. Good luck.

It seems like also you'd want something that your fowl doesn't think is a good smell, while still doing what you say; smells good to cats.
