Cats and Chickens

My cats are afraid of my chickens!

They pretty much get along, but mine are JG so they are much bigger than my cats. It is so funny to watch my cats run from the chickens. They try to be cool about it though, like they are not really scaired...just trotting along in the opposite direction!!!

My cat, Smokey (AKA Kitty Kat) peeked in on my chicks when I first set them up in the family room, and since then could not care less. He walks right by and shows no interest whatsoever. Our labbie-mix, Onyx sniffed them and also shows no interest.

Cool pics. I am not so much worried about the full size chickens, it's those silly bantums that I had to have that I worry about. They aren't much different sized than the cardinals

that I have found that our cat Gary has de-headed to show to us! But the bantums are so funny to watch.

Our feral/semi-feral cats are EXCELLENT hunters of all things smaller than them. However, they will NOT mess with the chickens, and do go sleep in the coops often at night or if it's beastly hot.

I trust them even with baby chicks now, mostly because the chicks always have Momma Hen over them, and our LH hens have no qualms in whipping cat butt. And well, a JG, English Orp and 'Dotte are all bigger and meaner than a cat. The banty hens aren't big enough, but well, they get the banty roos to stay with them while broody with chicks. The cats HAVE lost to the roos, always, even a little dinky marshmellow fluffy butted 20 week old banty Cochin. If a roo is there, the cats are very very careful to not get whipped.

REALLY CUTE PICS. I DONT HAVE ANY CATS BUT HAVE A RABBIT AND DOG THAT GET ALONG. MY DOG ALSO GETS JELOUIS(MISSPELLED) WHEN THE KIDS GIVE BUGS TO THE CHICKS.

I have semi feral cats too and we also have 3 banties. We have never had any issues with any of the cats and chickens. The cats are actually more leery of the chickens that vice versa lol. SO funny to watch a cat jump straight up when caught by surprise by a peck on the rear.

Love the cat and chicken pics. My cats are mostly indoors, but a friendly visiting cat hangs out with them and keeps a respectful distance.

I have to post a link to a video I found on youtube since we are on the topic of cats and chickens - so funny:
