When my birds were much younger, a neighborhood cat attacked and caught one. I got there before it killed her but she had some wounds and needed a stay in the "hospital". She's now a healthy and happy bird.

Fast forward about 6 months and I see a cat stalking them across the yard. I hurry and put on my shoes to chase that cat off. Just as I was opening the door, my birds squared off with the cat. The cat hesitated, unsure of this development. One of the birds then started to walk towards it. The others followed. The cat began to ponder the wisdom of stalking birds who didn't seem afraid. It turned just a little bit and that was all they needed. Just that little bit of a yield and the birds were off and chased that cat straight out of the yard! OMG I was rolling!

One of my poor kitties...he is a little slow and always wants to make friends but the chickens won't have anything to do with him.

Go kitties!!! Reading this made me think back on the day I watched one of our cats stalking a wild turkey that was cutting across the woods at the edge of our property - cat gained some high ground and made her move by leaping on to the turkey's back --- and was immediately sorry. That turkey was ALL over her and all she wanted was to get away.....she finally managed to get free of the turkey and high-tailed it for the house, it was a while before she did ANY bird hunting again.
