I used to shoot them with a .22 using hollowpoints. They NEVER drop dead. Always ran off to die if I could'nt get a couple more rounds off quickly.
If the cat were close, less than 30 yards I'd consider .22, but all but one have been 50 to 100 yards away. Never fun to do, but if I'm going to have chickens they need protectin'.
