You have 14 cats?! OMG, don't you have laws where you are? Do you license them?
Only allowed to have 3 per household here...(which is a good thing!)

You obviously have a very negative attitude towards to cats. I do understand not liking them but to this extreme? I adore my cats, they serve both purpose at my barn and in my home. Farms rarely don't have cats, heck our feed mills have cats.

I don't believe in licensing barn cats...that would be just plain silly. Certainly not about to put a collar on a cat that can get hung up somewhere. That said, I am a responsible barn cat owner and mine are vaccinated, spayed and wormed. While they are here to hunt mice, they are also offered food to keep them from getting ideas about my ducks. It works pretty well...they are mostly interested in much smaller prey and eat very little cat food. And we don't have kittens by the baker's dozen!

I don't think a license is even required out here in unincorporated area, but even if it is, I'm not doing it anyway. They get enough of my money as it is and it is only getting worse.

Over 3 years we lived in our house without the dogs ever getting a cat. Then we got chickens and the dogs have killed multiple cats since then. They have to be after the chickens. I don't know that a regular house cat could take down a full grown bird but the chicks would be no problem at all. I was thankful to the dogs.

My neighbor has a whole (huh I can't think of what you call a group of cats, herd, passle, coven?) bunch of barn cats. Hers are all spayed and such. She doesn't have a problem with pests like we do at all. I cant sneeze without hitting a bunny rabbit and our underground animal population is absurd. Let's not even get into mice. If we didn't have cat eating dogs we'd have a ton of cats to handle things. They really are an essential country living animal.

A colony I believe. My guy is fixed and a sweetheart....
My indoor cats are purebreds, ragdolls and yes, good mousers despite the pedigree lol

Again, I get not liking cats, but sometimes the lack of respect for them really annoys me... they have always served purpose.

Things are very different out in the country. As long as they are being taken care of I don't see why it would be a issue.
Personally I think it's more of an issue out in the country. I have lived in the country all my life here and cat's are a problem. Do you have any idea how many stray/wild cats there are that live in the country, in the wild?
Here, I know they are a huge problem and the population is increasing dramatically. The problem is people have too many cats. They sell or give them away.....anyway, this is not a cat's forum is it? So I won't go on...I rest my case

According to Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory, a herd of cats is a "clowder".

I dislike having other people's cats on my property. If the owner can keep them at home, I don't care how many cats they have.

Really though that is NOT cats fault that is humans! i grew up around horse boarding stables, you know how many people drop off cats and even dogs? The quantity of cats people own is not the issue, poor care/bad ownership is.

People do it with ducks too, how many stories to we hear of people getting a cute duckling only to toss it onto a pond somewhere? again all falls back onto people. Irresponsible people.

? how odd i know of the term colony.. saw a fascinating documentary about them years ago on national geographic. I don't like wandering cats here either, but my guy is good at getting them gone.

Well, to me, 14 cats ( taken care of or not) sounds like hell on earth. But then I HATE cats. They are no different from rats or cockroaches. I'd much, much rather have snakes for rodent contriol. No snake found in Michigan would take my ducks!
