I was happy to give them a tasty treat, and do you think those little buggers appreciated it? NO!

Poor babies are scared to death and running away from it.

I'm so disappointed. No wonder they're called chickens!

Give them a bit of time. Pretty soon one of them will get brave and grab it and then the rest will chase after the bold one and try to steal it.

You might speed up the process if you try mealworms next time, not as intimidating to a little chick as the large crickets.

We bought baby crickets (8 cents each) at Petsmart for our chicks when they were 2 weeks old. They were baffled by them for a few moments, but then decided to taste them.

The chaos was hilarious!!!

After that anything that crawled, wiggled, or flew was lunch.

That's one advantage of raising chicks with a few guineas... the guineas can't resist anything that moves, and sure enough, there is a stampede every time one catches a moth!
