CAUGHT A HAWK IN THE COOP!

, I dealt with my Australorp like that, all alone had to defend the others from the bobcat that would come back for sure (and did), I just had to move on.... Usually hawks won't get your chickens if they are in a shaded/around trees area.
I've never had a hawk problem (Because they want the fat starlings and doves) but the coops live under 4 redwood trees, the rest open, branches clipped up 6 feet high so we don't hurt ourselves. Although Merlins and Sharp-Shinned Hawks fly into the tree. It happened lately when I was watching my chickens dust. It was quiet (all the blackbirds/sparrows and starlings flew away) and I heard loud thrusting in the tree and a couple branches next to me and the chickens was a hawk watching us so of course I had to chase it away, haven't seen it since.Bad experience?
