So, the people on my last post were right! Our white Leghorn has just started to lay (at around 4:00pm Central)
I was sitting out in the coop with them (which is a bad idea sometimes because of the mosquitos and ants, but I love spending time with my girls) when I saw the Leghorn taking an intrest in the nesting box. Three of our six hens have already started laying (two Favs and a Welsummer) so the hay was already shaped to fit a chicken's butt. It didn't take her long to settle down into the nest and try to push the egg out (I heard Leghorns lay large eggs, too! And to go through that almost every day must be a pain.)
I managed to get a picture of her on the nest :D

Yay! How old were your favs when they started? I have 2 that are almost 6 months old and nothing yet!
Mine were about 5-6 months. My darker colored Faverolle started first out of the whole flock, however, and my salmon Faverolle started after my Welsummer did.

Thanks, I should be close then! One of them sang the egg song....no egg tho. And the other one has been acting jerky, leaving the flock and running back to the coop to hang next to the nest boxes. If one of these freeloaders doesn't lay soon, I'm gonna squeeze the eggs out of them! LOL

Ha! Just don't squeeze too hard ^^
