I despise snakes. If that was in my coop, it would have seen it's last meal.

Looks like a rat snake. I have one that I keep relocating but he must have a good GPS (global positioning snake) brain, since he keeps turning up in various places. My mouse traps are still unused so I'm hoping the snake is handling my rodent situation. For now.

I agree with @texsuze, looks like either a rat snake or a midlands water snake, the pic is too blurry to tell. In any case, a good non-venomous snake to have around for rodent control. I hope it wasn't killed, though it looks like it was.
