Caulking and Flashing

We installed some flashing on our run roof and my DH just used his drill and some screws that are made for tin and have a self sealing gasket on them. I don't know if this will work for you but it was quick and easy for how we used the flashing.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've gotten half the flashing on and am installing the felt right now. I think things are going in the right direction!

Yeah - seriously wishing I had a staple gun...but it all worked out and the felt and flashing is done! Thanks so much for all your suggestions -

there is no reason to seal between the plywood and in fact it could hurt the roof. plywood needs expansion gaps for temperature changes. If the ply is 3/4 you should be using roofing nails long enough to penetrate though the bottom of the ply at least 1/4 inch.
Pics would be great........ you just need to penetrate the flashing with the nails by hitting them hard. one sharp strike should start them.

oh and yes a big box store or many "hardware" stores have very incompetent workers who know less than you......they like it that way so they dont badmouth the low quality products they sell........if you need real help try a building supply store with contractors parked in the lot.....thoose guys usually have a real idea of what to do.

Here's a photo of my felted and flashed roof. I think it came out OK. Thank a lot to all of you for your advice!

Thanks! I'm putting shingles on top. You can't really tell from the pic but there is a pitch to the roof. Not a lot - kind of right on the edge of OK for shingles, but definitely OK if you use two layers of felt, which I did
