What are some medical causes of long term/chronic crop stasis?

Particularly ones that resolve with antibiotics then return in 1-2 weeks.

I’ve been doing some research, but wanted to see what ideas others may have.

(Looking for this answer only please, not treatments for impacted or sour crop. Not related to straw, grass, or other feeding/coop/environmental causes.)

It can happen with coccidiosis or enteritis, worms, but especially in grown hens who have reproductive disorders or ascites, which can cause pressure inside the abdomen. Also a gizzard impaction might be a possibility. When I lose a hen to a long term problem, I open the abdomen and look for possible causes. It is hard to do on a pet, but it is a great way to learn.

@Eggcessive thank you.

I have one with crop stasis for 8 months. I tried all the crop treatments for months. I eventually decided to just stop and let her be a happy chicken as long as she can.

The only time it’s resolved completely was when I gave her Tylan for five days. Like literally the first night I gave it, she had a completely empty crop the following morning. First time in over 6 months. Stayed clear for about a week after stopping the Tylan. Then started filling back up again.

🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
