Cayenne in the hens feed to promote laying?

I know birds can't taste hot/spicy so they wouldn't mind it....I wonder if eggs would be hot, like fish meal makes them fishy?
I've heard of spiking your wild bird food so the squirrels don't get into the feeders. I haven't heard of the laying benefits.

Old timers will swear it works so will this middle ager !!! We add it about every 2-3 weeks during the winter I add 1 bottle of cayenne to 1 pound of cornmeal and watch them go after it. It will take care of any worms they may have and heats up their matoblism. I buy it a walmart on the spice aisle 2 bottles for 1.00. Hey if a buck helps me get more eggs it is worth it. Try it you have onlya dollar to loose.

I use it in there water an it seems to help enough to be worth while. It don't get everyone laying but it does up production. And have no doubt that they can taste it. If I mix it to strong they refuse to drink it till some of it settles out(still blood red). Read about it on here in the first place.

Wow, that much at a time?

Guess I'll go to Wally-World and get some to try.

I have put pepper & cayenne pepper in their warm afternoon treats not every day but maybe every other day. Can't say if they egg production is up cause of the pepper or not. The eggs production is great I have 8 ISA browns & get usually 7-8 eggs per day. But there is a lot of natural light they get also plus ISA browns are power house layers. ?????

I have been having trouble trying to get my hens to lay, i feed them laying crumble and there not laying. i may just have to try this. sounds good to me.
