cayenne pepper for 28 hens

I feed chick starter which is 26% protein, layena which is high in calcuim, 3 grain scratch and oyster shell. As snacks, i give them cabbage, pumpkin, sweet potatoes. I have red & black star, blue laced red wyndotte, columbian wyndotte, barred rock, sex link , As for ages they range from 7 months to 5 months I average 10-15 eggs a day
Scratch should be fed as a treat, not as part of their feed.

I have 37 laying hens, different heritage breeds or hybrids that were bought for maximum egg production.
I get about 10 dozen eggs a week average. And they indeed started doing better after I installed a light in the coop area. You have some very nice breeds in your flock. But, how many hens do you have?

You shouldn't use more than 2% of their diet, but as many have said, consider it only for color of the yolks. Do they free range?

I wouldn't worry too much about production, days are getting longer every day now. Production will naturally increase just around the corner.
