No..I am not getting into an argument over it.. I will keep using it and you will not.. that is how most arguments end up..

The quickest way to an argument is by not providing all of the details.

It is never 'baiting' to ask someone where they found the information they are freely giving to others especially when it comes to herbal remedies or meds.

Also, sound research (as it applies to agriculture) is generally conducted by land grant universities and is not simply "put up on the web" which anyone can do at any time.

I would love for this information concerning pepper to be true. However, isn't it amazing to you that the folks who actually depend on egg laying for their income don't practise this?

enola,
Don't know if this helps, but my Ameraucana is a rather erratic layer. An egg daily for a week or two then nothing for a month. Maybe it is just part of the breed?

jvls1942, I'm with you 100%. I use Cayenne too, and I've NEVER had wormy chickens, or chicks for that matter. And if you'd search through old threads, you'd see where it has worked really well getting hens to lay. It might have all or nothing to do with it, but if it works, what's the arguement? And it's not documented anywhere, it's an old time remedy that happens to work extremely well. If you'd do a search, you'd see how many people actually do use cayenne in their feed. Like this:

And by the way, what do you guys care if cayenne works or not? This is what this forum is for, is to give advice, and support to other chicken owners. If someone knows a little secret to make life easier, I'm gonna take it.
