Hi everyone.
I just have a quick question, I have 2 Cayuga (I thought purebred) females. When I look online (Google pictures) and even on other forums on here, I see these pretty green shiny ducks. I'm not looking to show my ducks, I just wanted them because they were so pretty with green, blue and purple. But my 2 ducks are just plain black. Nothing special about them. Any reason why? They will be 1 year old in April.

Where did you get them? The ones you're looking at are most likely quality show birds. Yours might just be a Hatchery bird, and would never be able to win a prize. Either way, they're still a lovely bird. :love

I actually just got them off of kijiji.ca.😂 They definitely did not come from show ducks. I just saw this one picture on Google and wanted exactly that duck😂

The color is an iridescent. So their feathers are black, but depending on the lighting you will see more of the iridescent colors.

Here is couple pics of one of my Cayugas. You can see the difference in coloration.

Same duck, different lighting and angle but you see a lot more iridescence.
