My duck has started to lay eggs! Yay!

Downside is she doesn’t lay in the same place. None of our flock use the coop. They sleep on the porch and lay in certain areas of the backyard. And move their nest when the dog finds and steals their eggs.

Is there a way to help her lay in one spot instead of one here, one there, one anywhere?

Her eggs are also a light green. Normal? I know they are hers and not the chickens because the chickens lay huge brown eggs and the green ones aren’t fertile like the chickens.

What I have read (no actual experience just researching) - is that ducks lay at night or early morning so keeping them locked up helps to keep their eggs in one place.
Again, I have no ducks yet, so no experience. Hopefully, someone else will chime in for ya!

I find my ducks lay between 6:30am and 8:00am, but can sometimes lay later in the day. I put mine in a shed/coop at night and they use the same spot every time. If they don’t lay an egg though and I let them out in the run or to forage than they will just lay wherever (and then they quack loudly at it because they don’t like it I guess....). Anyways, perhaps copping up your ducks will help contain the eggs?

My duck and chickens won’t use the coop never have. They sleep on the porch.

My ducks don’t really “use” the coop, but we lock them up in it so they’re safe at night from predators and so the eggs are contained. I just herd them in and then close the door behind them.

Lavender and chamomile are really calming (at least for my chickens, hopefully for my ducks too) and they seem to love having it mixed into the shavings of their nesting boxes. Maybe try planting some in a small "poultry" garden, and the upside is you can harvest it! Hang with twine and when it's all dried you can break of the little buds to mix wherever you prefer them to lay their eggs.
